While other regions struggle individually, we laid the foundation for unprecedented cooperation back in 2010 with the ‘International Economic Area Lake Constance’ (IWB) project. Fourteen partners from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein have joined forces, not just on paper, but with a shared vision.

History of the Lake Constance four-country Region
The VLRB is considered one of the most dynamic economic regions in Europe. It combines high-tech standards, inventive spirit and innovative strength in four economically highly developed nations – Germany, Switzerland, the Principality of Liechtenstein and Austria.
The region is characterised by 25 colleges and universities, which are networked with numerous SMEs in the Lake Constance Quadrilateral Region Science Network. The VLRB impresses not only with its high economic potential, but also with its high quality of life and attractive surroundings.
